News about Student Loans:
The Government of Canada offers Canada Student Loan Forgiveness to borrowers who work in eligible occupations in eligible rural communities. Loan forgiveness can only be applied to the outstanding part of your federal student loan, which students apply/qualify for when applying through Manitoba Student Aid: https://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/msa/. It does not apply to the provincial part of your loan. A number of professions were recently added such as Teachers, Social Workers, Pharmacists and more. Please check this website for details: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/education/student-aid/grants-loans/repay/assistance/student-loan-forgiveness.html. Reminder: students who come from lower-income families will receive more support through Manitoba Student Aid/Canada Student Loans for post-secondary education, and that borrowed money is interest free!
